 City vs. Nature in Split-Screen

Modern life often pulls us between two extremes — the fast-paced rush of urban living and the calming stillness of the natural world. For my fourth task, I created a split-screen video that explores this duality by placing city life and nature side by side, allowing the viewer to feel the contrast visually and emotionally.

Concept: City vs. Nature

The idea behind this video was to create a visual dialogue between two environments that represent completely different energies. On one side, we have the city — filled with movement, structure, and noise. On the other, we have nature — calm, organic, and peaceful. Both exist in our world, yet offer vastly different experiences and states of mind.

The Urban Side

The city side of the split screen showcases:

  • Busy roads packed with moving cars and traffic

  • Towering skyscrapers stretching into the sky

  • The constant hustle, energy, and chaos that defines urban life

This half of the screen reflects how cities never sleep. The visuals are fast-paced and structured, representing the speed, noise, and motion of modern life. It reflects our day-to-day routines, schedules, and the ever-growing vertical expansion of our surroundings.

The Natural Side

In contrast, the nature side features:

  • Lakes with reflections of towering mountains

  • Close-ups of natural elements — trees, water, clouds

  • plant growing through a time-lapse animation

This side brings a sense of stillness and grounding. It captures the untouched beauty of the Earth, where everything moves at its own slow, natural pace. The visuals represent peace, clarity, and a connection to something older and more timeless than city life.

Final Reflection

This split-screen video wasn’t just a visual experiment — it was a reminder of the balance we all need. The city symbolizes ambition, drive, and innovation. Nature represents rest, reflection, and simplicity. Both are part of who we are.
